Maybelline The Mega Plush vs.The Falsies

Sunday, September 30, 2012

A few weeks ago I went to CVS and they had a BOGO 50% off on Maybelline products... After reading my friend Jessica's review on her blog Love for Lacquer about the Falsies I was intrigued and wanted to give it a try. With the BOGO I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try both of these products out.

Here's what Maybelline says about the Mega Plush...

Here's what they say about the Falsies

I have to say that after trying both of these mascaras I am NOT a fan of The Mega Plush at all. I hate the flexor brush. I feel like it makes the application much harder/more complex. I accomplished the same results with one coat of the Falsies as I did when I applied three coats of the Mega Plush. I also found the Mega Plush very clumpy on me.

Overall my grade for the Mega Plush is a C-

On the other hand I really LOVED the Falsies. I think it does exactly what the product details says ( False lash glam instantly). It's great for me because my natural lashes are itty bitty! It applies smoothly and I would put it up against a high end mascara any day of the week.

My grade for the Falsies is an A

What is your favorite mascara? Have you tried either of these yet?

"How To" Tuesday

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Hi loves, this week its how to do a tousled/curled fall hair look. I love curled hair in the fall, I mean who doesn't?!? It's actually a time of the year that you can curl your hair and it will stay with the declining/no humidity....  What you will need... About a 1 inch curling iron, I used my old faithful that I've had since High School.

Now let me just say that I do have some "higher end" irons, but I ALWAYS come back to this one... That just goes to show you that there are some things that just work better, even when they cost less!

I started out by applying this through my hair before I blew it out (another cheap favorite)!

Now for my FAVORITE hairspray EVER!

When I curl my hair I always curl away from my face I just like how it turns out better that way. So I start off by lightly spraying my hair then I curl it. I start on the left side at the top and I lay the pieces over the top of my head until I'm done that side like so.

Then when I'm done that side I flip all the hair the right way and respray it and kind of scrunch it up and I continue this to the other side until finished. Here is the final look.

What is your go to hair look for fall?

MAC of the week

Friday, September 21, 2012

Hey loves!!! What a day, today I have something very special... I went to the MAC Marilyn Monroe Pre Launch, so needless to say I have a few MAC of the week choices! This collection launches October 4th in store and September 27th online. Ok, first up is Showgirl it's a  dark blue grey color and it has a Veluxe Pearl Finish. Really Great for a smokey eye!

There are four eyeshadows in this collection, this one is the one that I would use the most. I will probably get at least one more ;)

Next up is the beauty powder in Forever Marilyn, this would be a great everyday highlighter. It has a mirror in it so it would also be great to keep in your purse. It's very sheer, kind of a very pale peach.

Next I bought a lipstick called Deeply Adored. So beautiful and PERFECT for fall! It has a Matte finish, very old hollywood!

Then I had to get a Dazzleglass and I choose Phiff! AMAZ!

Now finally... I didn't expect to purchase a polish, but I fell in LOVE with flaming rose. I swear it was completely opaque in 1 coat!

So what do you think? I want to get a few more peices...

"How To" Tuesday

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

O my, what a rough couple of days!!! I took the kids to the Doctors on Friday they both have strep : ( ... As per usual it was a weekend and I caught it too. Saturday I had a slight fever, but being sick wasn't an option for me I had two babies to take care of. Thank GOD that my husband was off on Sunday & Monday because I was miserable. Now it's Tuesday and I have been trying all day to get this post up for you, but my fever wouldn't have it! So sorry it's late today sweets! Anyway like I said last week this week I am doing a "how to" on Disney's Evil Queen. She was the one re;eased this week and I used my MAC Villains collection. Here are the colors that I chose.

Vile Violet is a deep purple. Here Alter Image is a really pretty pale lilac, and Vainglorious is a very crisp maroon burgundy. Here is what I did, of course I already had painterly on as my primer and my eyebrows filled in.

I applied Her Alter Image all over the lid. Then I used my MAC #224 brush to apply Vile Violet in the crease, next I used my pencil brush to darken the outer crease with Vainglorious. Finally I lined my eyes all the way through the inner corners and winged it out with my Tarte call of the wild liner (love this stuff) & applied the Falsies! I also used Her Alter Image as my highlight shade. I have to say I'm not happy about how these pictures turned out they look a bit grayish in the pictures but in reality they are gorgeous shades of purple! Here is the finished look....

I feel like the queen would have had a wicked winged liner!!! Here are a few more products that I love from the Evil Queen line.

Bite of an Apple blush, OMG my favorite blush of all time! If you have a chance to get this snatch it up!
Also a lipglass in Strange Potion, this is such a fabulous color. I will post some swatches of this stuff!

So what do you think? Is this a look you would like to try? What would you like to see on a how to Tuesday?

Tarte Call of the Wild Eyeliner Set!!!! Must Read!!!!

Sunday, September 16, 2012

I know that my review on the call of the wild palette was less the stellar. The call of the wild eyeliner on the other hand is AMAZING!!!! To say the very least about it!!!!

I'm not even kidding I don't even know how to express my love for this. Do you see that brush (it comes with it) you can't but that brush by itself. The curved side makes doing the wings to my eyeliner UNBELIEVABLY easy.

After I looked online for just the brush and found out that it just comes with this kit, I went out and bought a spare kit!

Look at the wings I have been able to achieve with no trouble...

Now, the brush isn't the only incredible thing about this. I literally wore this for 10 hours straight and took a nap and my eyeliner did not move!!! I can't believe the staying power that it has. Of all my liners (MAC included) this is by far my favorite! Now this is limited edition loves for fall so GO, GO, GO!!! This is an Ulta exclusive and it is $22.00. Well worth it and I this will last a LONG time. Even if you are a liner queen like me :)

My rating for this is most defiantly an  A+
Really the packaging couldn't be any cuter and the product is marvelous. The brush alone is worth the $22.00 for the precision it gives me. Throw in the 24 hour waterproof liner and it's a steal! i know I said I wasn't before, but this is almost enough to make a Tarte lover out of me.

Have you tried this already? What is your favorite eyeliner?

MAC of the Week

Friday, September 14, 2012

Hey Beauties, have you had a good week? I sure hope so... This week I picked MAC reflects glitter in Transparent Teal!!! Perfect for a weekend right?!?! By now I'm sure you know my love for all things glitter. When it comes to putting glitter on your eyes you want to make sure that you have the right kind! Look no further then Mac's reflects line... The glitter is so fine in the Transparent Teal that you can where it over anything, and when the light hits it... LOOK OUT!

When I have sparkle on my eyes I feel instantly pretty, like all the attention it going right to them. I really shouldn't even show you this swatch because it does not do it justice at all, but here it is.
See no justice at all, you can't even see the multi-color effect. Here it is over a dark color.

I think that even if your not a huge glitter fan you will want to add this to your collection. If I was going to own just one glitter it would be this. I actually got this in a holiday collection a few years back with 4 other pigments. The great thing about MAC pigments is that they last forever...

This is a MAC pro product and can be bought at a pro store or I think you can order it by phone

What is your favorite glitter? Do you have this already? Is this something that you want to try?

"How To" Tuesday (on Thursday)

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Hi Loves, sorry about the "how to" being late this week. I wanted to do something fun this week and with Halloween being right around the corner it's kind of fitting too! Ok, so I don't know if there's any Disney lovers out there (I'm quite sure there is). I am a huge Disney geek!!! Snow White is my favorite (but that's different story for a different post)!!! I actually like most of the villains too! Well MAC came out with a Disney Villains line a few years back and I was able to get my hands on "almost" everything that I wanted!!!..... Anyway Disney just released it's first of their designer villain dolls and it was drumroll....... Maleficent!!! So I decided to do a Maleficent inspired look with my MAC
collection!!!
Here's what I used MAC's My Dark Magic & MAC's She Who Dares

First I primed my eyes (as per usual) next I sprayed my MAC 239 brush with some water and picked up the blue side of She Who Dares and filled in the first half of my lid. Next I sprayed the other side of my 239 brush and picked up both the pink and purple side of My Dark Magic and applied it to the outer half. I then took my MAC 219 pencil brush and rimmed the bottom lash line and up through the crease with the blue side of She Who Dares again. I then used MAC's Electra with my 222 brush to do the inner corners and then to blended some of it up through my crease. I then used my MAC 263 brush wet it and used Electra as my top liner. ( you could use and silver liner here or just forgo this step if you would rather) I also used MAC's Phloof as my highlight color.  I lined my water line with some black kohl liner from nyc and used the falsies Mascara. For this look I had to add lashes I'm sure Maleficent would have went the extra mile, lol. I used the Ardell Double Up Lashes in #206. Here is how it turned out. Forgive the pictures I used a different camera today. Never doing that again!!!

Now I know that you cant get your hands on the villain line any longer. However, MAC often times like to revamp their stuff and you can still achieve this look because they brought some of there mineral eyeshadows back. To get the look of My Dark Magic you will need MAC's Young Punk. To get the green side of she who dares you could grab MAC's Smutty Green and for the blue you will need MAC's Blue Flame all of them cost US $21.00 and are available on MACcosmetics.com.

I continued the look by applying my regular foundation and MSF and then added MAC's Briar Rose from the villains collection and for the lips I used Violetta and Revenge is Sweet lipglass (both from the villains as well). Here is the overall look. Sorry the pictures are not better they will be next week when I do the evil queen!!!

What are your thought's? Is this a look that you will try? What how to's would you like to see?
